Known to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the country, barefoot beach preserve not only is a beach ideal for families, due to its crystal clear water, white sand and shallow depth, but it has a mile long trail allowing visitors to observe nesting turtles in the summer.
When needing a day away from the beach, Naples is also home to places like
Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, a 13,000 acre sanctuary that houses and protects native species such as the endangered Wood Stork, Florida Panther, American Alligator, Gopher Tortoise and over 10 more state and federally listed species. Guests can observe all of the species while strolling the 2.25 – mile boardwalk.
School/Health/Transportation in Naples Florida
The school districts that serves Naples, and the surrounding area, is the Collier County School District. The district is comprised of 46,416 students throughout 40 elementary, 19 middle and 18 high schools. The district is highly rated on the state level and is considered to be in the top three for safest, top five overall district and the top ten for best districts for athletes. It is also known for being one of the best districts for teachers, as well as having a diverse student body. Naples also has many wonderful
private schools for children K – 12. There are a total of three elementary, four middle and four high schools.
Florida Southwestern State College,
Ave Maria University and
Hodges University are all located within 35 miles of Naples, and
Florida Gulfcoast University also offers continued education courses on their campus located in town.
There are four main hospitals that service residents around Naples:
NCH Baker Hospital Downtown, NCH North Naples,
Physicians Regional Medical Center – Collier Boulevard and
Physicians Regional Medical Center – Pine Ridge. All hospitals offer 24 – hour emergency rooms and general medical services, while collectively offering oncology care, in-patient and out-patient surgical care, oncology, pediatrics, obstetrics, etc. Travelers can fly out of
Naples Airport if flying mainly in state, or out of
Southwest Florida International Airport, in Fort Meyers, for all international flights. If traveling doesn’t require a flight, there is also the option to take an
Amtrak out of Fort Meyers. When trying to get around in town, Collier Area Transit buses residents around the county.
